The process
We want to hear it all! We feel the more honest, open and detailed experiences are, the most meaningful and helpful they will be to those who read them. We look forward to those awkward, gross details that may not get talked about in casual tellings--from weird birth stories to midnight vomiting babies. All emotions are extremely welcome and encouraged. if you felt it you were most likely not the only one feeling it!! Reading that another parent shared a certain emotion may help a future parent when they are faced with that situation themselves.
- We are not accepting written stories. All stories will be collected through a direct interview.
- We will record your interview write your story from the recording in the first person.
- Interviews can be held in person or via Google Hangout (for those with gmail), Skype, Facetime or phone. We will record and transcribe the interview and draft from there.
- We like to plan one to two hours for each interview. We know you are a parent this can be flexible!
- We will change the names of doctors, nurses, midwives, doulas etc. anyone who is not related to the person sharing the story and who has not expressly given us permission to use their name. You can let us know if you would like us to change any additional names of people who are a part of your story.
- Before publication we will send the draft of your story back to you for feedback to ensure that the details, emotions etc. are correct.
